I Support My Writer

I have a writer at home.

Not many people know this, but my husband's writing takes a lot of work--from both of us. If you're a lucky writer, you have a partner that's backing you up; shoving crackers in your mouth when you forget to eat, reminding you that it's okay to have a social life sometimes, and listening patiently to all the things those imaginary people are doing in your head.


I won't lie, sometimes it's really hard to support a writer. It's tough, when I've had a difficult day and just want to sob on hubby's shoulder, to detach and let him get on with his work. It's difficult to get passionate about his characters when I don't know them as well as he does. Sometimes I have no clue what he's talking about, but I still try, because I know he has a gift. Does that make it easier? No. But it does make it worth it.
